Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friendly Awards

The awards celebrate and showcase the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations across the UK who have led the way on creating dementia friendly communities and improving the lives of everybody affected by dementia.

Alsager School have created an innovative intergenerational project, bringing students and people living with dementia together to create interactive digital timelines. Using images, videos and music, students created a truly individual and personal living memory box. I am nominating Alsager School because I have been inspired by their drive and motivation to take action. Starting this project has had a massive impact on awareness in Alsager, creating more than 1000 dementia friends at the school.
Nominated by Jess McFall at Alzheimer’s Society.

Awards Ceremony – Thursday 22 November. The Royal Horseguards, 2 Whitehall Court, London.

Our Sway Life Stories project was nominated for the Healthy Living Award. The award is for an individual, class or whole school who make it a priority to lead a healthy lifestyle. This could be by encouraging exercise, or teaching pupils about eating healthy foods. Maybe at your school you grow vegetables or have an allotment, or a project to encourage fitness, wellbeing or mental health.
